At Aoba-Japan International School, our Performing Arts programme spans from Kindergarten to Senior School, offering students rich experiences in music, dance, drama, and theatre. Rooted in inquiry-based learning and aligned with our core values, the programme nurtures creativity, communication, and collaboration.

From kindergarten through Grade 6, all students participate in General Music, where they explore singing, instruments, music literacy, and cultural traditions. These experiences help students develop not only musical skills but also attributes of the IB learner profile—becoming thinkers, communicators, and open-minded individuals. Music at Aoba is viewed as both artistic expression and a powerful medium for global connection, inspiring students to cultivate a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

In Middle Years, students have increased opportunities for performance and stage productions, in both onstage and backstage roles. This immersive experience gives students hands-on learning in performance, lighting, sound design, and more.

In Senior school, students are offered the opportunity to learn about music and performance using the music studio and black box theatre which was specially built for high school education at the Bunkyo campus. Whether performing in school events or on professional stages across Tokyo, students are empowered to grow as musicians, storytellers, and global citizens through real-world, creative opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.
